From Our Newsletter: Abortion Pill Reversal
In case you didn't know, the "abortion pill" is actually two pills. The first pill, mifepristone, is taken to stop the woman's body from producing the hormone progesterone. Pregnancies need progesterone to grow and develop, so the absence of progesterone will likely lead to the death of the pregnancy.
The woman will take the second pill, misoprostol, 48 to 72 hours later; misoprostol will cause labor and the ultimate expulsion of the pregnancy - an abortion.
2-3 days is a long time to wait - and to regret. The good news is that there is a small window of time when the abortion pill can sometimes be reversed. And the even better news is that the Pregnancy Clinic is equipped to help in these life or death situations with specially-trained staff and volunteers.
"Emma" is one client whose life has been changed through Abortion Pill Reversal (APR). Emma saw no other option in her unexpected pregnancy and took the first step of the abortion pill process at the abortion clinic. But later that same day she regretted her decision - and reached out to the Abortion Pill Reversal Network. They put her in touch with us.
Time is critical in these situations, so the Pregnancy Clinic staff and volunteers came in immediately to assist. Emma met with a caring counselor to discuss her options and the stress factors that lead to her decision. Then she met with a physician to start the pill-reversal treatment.
Recent ultrasounds show that her baby has a strong heartbeat and continues to grow.
It's important to know that APR is not always effect to prevent an abortion and it is not an undo button. However, the APR treatment it is one more tool God has given us to rescue His precious children.
We pray for Emma: that her family supports her, that her baby thrives, that she finds the strength God has placed within her, and - most of all - that she develops a personal relationship with the One who loves her passionately.
