Her abortion is scheduled for tomorrow

Please join us in praying for "Lisa". She came for an appointment in our Annapolis Clinic even though she has an abortion scheduled for tomorrow. After receiving counseling and an ultrasound at our clinic, she said she was conflicted about going through with the abortion. Please pray with us that she would cancel her abortion appointment and choose life for her baby, and that we would be able to continue to minister to her and support her at this time.

Volunteer Spotlight

Scott and his wife Debbie live on the beautiful and peaceful Mayo Peninsula, a sub-division of Edgewater, MD, where he is currently working on some home renovations.  They have three adult children: Joey, Gene, and Matt.  Scott and Debbie attend Grace Baptist Church in Bowie, and Scott is an Information Technology Government contractor.  Having originally participated in the counselor training course in 1997, Scott decided to refresh his skills by completing the class again this past Summer!

What Scott loves most about volunteering is the chance to focus on the men: "Unfortunately, the guy often takes a back seat.  He may think that he doesn't have a say because it's not his body.  He may want to just support the woman, leaving the decision all up to her.  Or, he may be reluctant to take the initiative to share with her how he feels about the pregnancy." Since Scott both counsels (waiting room) and teaches Life Sense (Man Up!) he enjoys encouraging the guy to take an active role and be a leader according to God's plan.  He has returned to counseling recently, having felt God tugging at his heart, challenging him to share His love for those who don't know Him.  "So here I am, learning what it means to depend on God."

In terms of his walk with God, Scott says he has been challenged with the struggle of forgiveness and bitterness  "As I get older, I thought I was suppose to grow wiser in understanding, as I grow in knowledge of God. But it seems I still have a lot of learning to do. Maybe that's why God is presenting me with these opportunities. Often I struggle like Job, 'I loathe my very life; therefore I will give free rein to my complaint and speak out in the bitterness of my soul.' (Job 10:1).  But I fight back with Paul's words,'Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.'  (Ephesians 4:31).  Matthew West addresses this well in his song, 'Forgiveness'. I'm realizing that I need to be listening to the words (and applying) what is in this song daily. Maybe, I need to be digging into, not just reading, more of His Word. Maybe, I need to take prayer a little more seriously."

We are thankful to have Scott return to this vital role and encourage so many in this ministry.
